Empowering African Girls Through Coding: CBW-Africa’s Vision for a Brighter Future
As part of its commitment to bridging the gender gap in STEM fields, the Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW-Africa) is launching an exciting initiative called #Coding4Girls on July 29th. This transformative event is designed to empower young African girls aged 10 to 18 with essential coding skills crucial for success in the digital era and fostering technological advancements. The coding camp is open to girls from all over Africa who share a passion for coding, technology, and STEM subjects, regardless of their prior experience in the field.
Participants in this initiative will have access to a wide array of learning materials, resources, and tools necessary for their educational journey. These include online tutorials, coding platforms, and curated educational content to support their growth and development. The program aims to bring together bright minds and eager learners from across the continent, igniting a love for coding in the next generation of female leaders. The initiative is free for all successful registrants, highlighting CBW-Africa’s dedication to inclusivity and diversity, irrespective of background or ethnicity.
Led by experienced professionals, the program will cover fundamental coding languages such as HTML, CSS, Java, Python, SQL, among others. Through hands-on projects and workshops, participants will gain practical experience and nurture their creativity and innovation. Upon completion of the program, opportunities for further advanced courses, mentorship programs, and community initiatives will be available to enhance their coding skills and career prospects.
CBW-Africa’s ambitious vision is to provide accessible and inclusive coding education to one million African girls. In partnership with TechServ, this vision is set to become a reality through a well-structured and engaging curriculum, ensuring that learning is both enjoyable and impactful for the participants. Join CBW-Africa on this journey to harness the power of technology and create a more inclusive and brighter future for Africa and beyond.
